DO:

  • Take medications on schedule
  • Develop a good sleep routine
  • Eat nutritious meals Have regular visits to your physician
  • Follow their instructions fully
  • Disclose your epilepsy when applying for a drivers license in most states
  • Disclose your epilepsy to your coach for reasons of safety, if playing sports
  • Tell your close friends, remember: You are the one to make the decision about the disclosure
  • Get a blood level done if you don't feel right
  • Call your doctor if you are not feeling right
  • Avoid unprotected heights
  • Do continue social activities
  • Avoid contact sports like football - discuss with your doctor

Don't

  • Work with dangerous equipment or in a dangerous environment
  • Take street drugs
  • Drink Alcohol
  • Have poor sleeping habits
  • Eat poorly
  • Swim alone or without supervision
  • Forget to take your medication
  • Worry or develop stress
  • Go to unprotected heights
  • Worry about seizures - this can lead to depression
  • Drive, if you feel strange or different than usual
